Bud Clary Subaru Loves Learning

Sandy Catt, Director of Communications and Technology at Longview Public Schools, receives a donation from Brad Ramey, Subaru Sales Manager at Bud Clary, as part of the Subaru Loves Learning campaign. Throughout the month of September, customers filled out donation cards and Bud Clary Subaru donated a new non-fiction educational book to local classrooms.

Here’s a note from Sandy:

Please accept a big “THANK YOU” from Longview Schools for the fabulous selection of non-fiction books for our elementary students. Upon review of the titles and quantities of books, I wanted to let you know how the generous donation will be put to best use.

We are trying to increase availability in classrooms of non-fiction titles so the books are being distributed to classrooms at each of our eight elementary schools consistent with the books’ reading levels. Specifically, all second grade classes will receive a copy of Tiny Creatures; third grade classes a copy of Mission Mars; fourth grade a copy of Keeping Chickens; and fifth grade a copy of Octopus Scientist. We received one copy of How to Clone a Mammoth, and we will send that to the RAL library. We have a some books remaining, and we are sharing them with our education partner, St. Rose School.

This program has been a big boost to our classroom libraries, and we are very appreciative. Again, many thanks!

And here’s a picture of the books before they went out to classrooms:

Yakima named All America City

Yakima was named an All-American City by the National Civic League for its outstanding community-enhancement projects, among them Bud Clary’s P.A.C.E. Program (Perfect Attendance Creates Excellence). According to the Yakima Herald, this is the first time in 20 years such a designation has been given to the city.

Perfect Attendance Creates Excellence (PACE) is a program started by Bud Clary Auto Group family of dealerships that gives a free bike and helmet to any elementary school student who achieves perfect attendance during the school year. The Toyota dealership’s general manager, Jeff Mattson, and outreach coordinator, Robbie Bustos, presented alongside Omar Santoy, who has seen the benefits of the program in his work as a counselor at Adams Elementary School in Yakima.

Bud Clary is proud to be an active member of the Yakima community and will continue to support the city in which we live and do business.
